Frequently Asked Questions

  • A standard therapy appointment is 53 minutes long.

  • Therapy appointments are scheduled based on your individual needs, your schedule, and the therapist’s availability. Most clients begin meeting every week or every other week to establish momentum in therapy. You can feel free to discuss a different meeting frequency with your therapist to fit your schedule and budget.

  • Several of our therapists can accept MediCal’s Partnership Health Plan and/or most Kaiser Insurance Plans. Please refer to our therapists’ profiles on our website to see what insurance plans each therapist is able to accept.

If you have another insurance plan that we cannot bill directly, you could call you insurance company and ask them if they will reimburse you for paying for therapy out-of-pocket. If they do, make sure to clarify what services they cover and what is needed in order to get reimbursed. We are happy to provide monthly ‘superbills’ which is in the format expected by many insurance companies to validate the services you receive from us for coverage consideration.

  • Pros:

    — Reduced out-of-pocket expenses

    — May allow for more frequent visits due to lower session costs

    — May help you meet your insurance deductible

    Cons:

    — Requires the therapist to place an official mental health diagnosis in your medical record

    — Your policy may not cover couple’s therapy or family therapy

    — Less confidentiality

    — Your insurance company will have the right to discover how many sessions you have received, what services you have received, and your mental health diagnosis

    — Your policy may limit the number of sessions that can be covered Reduces your choices of therapist because not all our therapists can accept insurance plans

  • Your first appointment is your opportunity to meet your therapist and for your therapist to get to know you. We have found that this is the best way for you and your therapist to collaborate on a treatment plan.

  • We are a group of well-trained therapists who practice evidence based therapeutic approaches & have met the requirements of the state to practice therapy. As Christians, our therapists are able to integrate faith issues into sessions for those who desire it.

  • People often find the right therapist by reading about the therapist, their approach to therapy, and the kinds of issues that they treat on their website.

Please take a look through the Our Therapists page or the list below and read a little about each of us. This will help you get a sense for who might be a good fit for you.
