I want to help you if you feel alone, anxious, or depressed… if relationships are falling apart… if you can’t seem to find meaning in life… if you feel overwhelmed or wonder why you feel nothing at all… or if you are experiencing mental illness. I am committed to working with you to find emotional and spiritual well-being through counseling that is interpersonal and practical. We can explore the intricacies of your life story, your stresses, and the distinctiveness of who you are to discover a coherent picture of how you can live a meaningful life in keeping with the values that matter to you.

  • Mike’s clinical supervision experience.

  • I am licensed as a Professional Clinical Counselor in California and licensed as a Mental Health Counselor in Florida. I have a special interest in mental health issues and significant experience working with clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, or personality disorders. I also have experience helping family members who have a loved one living with a mental illness.

  • I believe we have each been created with unique complexity, therefore I do not take a “one-size-fits-all” approach to therapy. I am skilled in the use of interpersonal therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and 12-Step facilitation.

I also bring a wealth of life experience to the counseling process. I have been a junior high baseball coach, a furniture mover, a janitor, a professor of philosophy and theology, a pastor, and an indoor landscaper. My wife and I are originally from California; in the 1990’s we spent eight years living in Southeast Asia. We have been married for over 35 years and have three adult sons.
